May 25th, 2019 marked the end of the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival. And what is Cannes? Only one of the most glamorous events in film. With its line-up of Hollywood stars draped in oh-so marvellous attires - or not? Most of the stars that show up to Cannes are usually dressed by the crème de la crème of the fashion Industry. Cannes has always been about film and glitz!
All eyes were on the red carpet waiting for the who’s who of the film industry to make their way up the majestic steps. Photographers were everywhere to capture the showstopping glamour. During these two weeks, the world saw the best and worst dressed stars and starlets. From sophisticated costumes to simple elegant gears or designs bordering on the ludicrous. Some celebrities arrived dressed to the nines. Others haven’t made much of an impression with their extravagant gowns.
Each year the French Riviera gifts us with our fair share of swoon-worthy fashion moments. You may want to check out the various outfits that almost broke the internet…
Most of the A-lister turned lots of heads at Cannes! Marion Cotillard was not one of them. She wore a Balmain outfit that included a black crop top, shorts, high heels with a huge denim cape. This Cannes regular has once again opted for a risky outfit which reveals her navel.
Next on the list is Margot Robbie, call her a trend setter or a total drop out. Her first appearance on the red carpet was alongside the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast, which included, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and the film's director Quentin Tarantino. She had on a sparkly Chanel couture sequined tunic with a big ribbon paired with a black choker and black mules.
Lights, camera, action! Lorena Rae in Rami Kadi attends the premiere of ‘’Oh Mercy!’’ in an excruciating pink dress. That could be an offence to the eyes!
Eva Herzigova got it wrong with her sequined Dior romper. Hummmm… She paired sparkly tights with not so glamorous shiny booties. It’s a fail, Eva! No worries, next year you might make your mark.
According to you, who won the Grand Prix for the worst dressed at the swankiest film festival?
