On 7th Of April 2019, it’s World Health Day! This celebration is used to raise awareness about health and how important it is to take care of yourself! To live a healthy life, brings peace of mind, with peace of mind brings stability which all leads to a peaceful way of living…
The World Health Organization is organising their annual World Health Day, and this year they are dedicating it to fight for universal healthcare for all! The goal that they have set out is that everyone has access to all healthcare services that they need, without having to worry about how much it will cost them! They are working to see about 1 billion or more people gain access to healthcare services by 2023.
As it’s World Health Day this Sunday, why not celebrate it by setting a healthy goal for the year! Let’s try to take a few minutes out of our busy lifestyles to exercise, plan a nutritional diet and get the right amount of sleep.
Here are a few tips for you to stay healthy to live a happier and healthier life!
- Get Active! Move your body…
Being active not only reduces the risk of developing heart disease, but it can also be a great mood booster or even relieve stress!
Do at least 30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise a day for 5 days. Which works out to be 150 minutes a week. So, let’s get that blood flowing, by starting off with a quick jog!
- Get the 5 A Day, will keep the doctor away!!!
You should eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables a day. This is a good source of fibre, minerals and vitamins…
Really easy to add in your weekly meal plan, by adding chopped vegetables to your pasta dishes or fruit while having your cereal…
- Add Something Fishy to your Menu!
You should eat fish twice a week. This should include one oily fish, like pilchards, salmon or sardines as this is a source of Omega-3 fats which can help prevent heart disease!!
- OOOO TOO SALTY!!
You should try to avoid using salt at the table or even when cooking. This will help maintain your blood pressure…
A lot of food already contains salt, so no added salt is needed. Read the food labels to see how much salt is added in the foods before purchasing the product.
An adult should eat a teaspoon of salt which is less than 6g of salt a day…
- Get some sleep to:
Have peace of mind, make a better decision, improve concentration, produce creative yet constructive ideas and many more. Enough sleep is the key to a healthier lifestyle!
We need to have at least 8 hours of sleep daily irrespective of ages… So, if you need to count sheep, start counting as the hours are ticking!
So, with regular exercise, enough sleep, a proper meal plan and taking care of mental and emotional health, we can all stay healthy and enjoy our lives to the fullest! It’s never too late to start….
